Meet our Faculty!
“MISS DANA” L. FLOK
Since
completing her BFA in Dance from Kutztown University, Dana has
instructed, choreographed, and performed throughout the Lehigh
Valley and Reading areas.
With a minor in theatre, her
credits include choreography in several musicals and
off-Broadway shows, as well as, working with dance companies in
the surrounding area.
Dana has acted as the head coach
and choreographer for the Lehigh University Dance Team for
several years.
While under her instruction, the
team has represented this area while competing at
the National level in Disney World,
televised on ESPN.
She also started the dance team at
Emmaus HS
where she worked as a dance
instructor & choreographed productions.
Starting in 2007, she is the Junior
Dance Team Coordinator for the Lehigh Valley Outlawz. Miss Dana
will be teaching Pre-Ballet/Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, combo.
Ballet/Tap/Jazz classes, as well as, choreographing for our
resident dance company, IN THE MIX.
Her main goal is to educate dancers
by teaching and instilling the art form of dance.
She looks forward to running the
studio for the seventh
year as it’s artistic director.
“MR. MARK” FIGUEROA
Joining
us for his3rd
year at DDC, we are thrilled to have Mark & his award winning
choreography for the 2010-11 season.
He has had extensive training in
Hip-Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, & Ballet.
Mark studied under the direction of
Renee Lorenzetti at Allen HS, and was a member of their
prestigious dance academy.
Since graduating, he has performed
both locally & nationwide.
Some of his credits include Giant
Stadium “Battle of the Bands” performance-opening for “Hurricane
Priss” & “Soldier Boy,” R&B/Reggae artist Greg Jarviss, numerous
Musikfest performances, etc.
Mark visits NYC weekly & takes
continues his dance training at Broadway Dance Center & other
dance studios to stay fresh and up to date with NYC standards.
Mark will be teaching Hip-Hop
classes & choreograph for our resident dance company, IN THE
MIX.
AMALA GAMEELA
Amala is an experienced, passionate dancer/instructor who specializes in folkloric, cabaret, and modern Middle Eastern Bellydance. She continues to study with accomplished professionals from the United States and Egypt and regularly performs throughout the tri-state area at various festivals, restaurants, weddings, and private parties. Amala will be teaching all Bellydance classes at Dynamix.
“MISS JENNA” GROENEWOLD
This
will be Jenna”s second year as part of our faculty at DDC.
In the past, she was a DDC student,
member, & acting president for our resident dance company, IN
THE MIX. Jenna acted as a teacher’s assistant for 4 years before
she made the transition to part of our full time staff.
Her dance training includes Ballet,
Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Hip-Hop, & Gymnastics and has been
dancing for over 15 years.
Currently, she is pursuing a career
in the entertainment industry.
Jenna will be teaching all
Gymnastic classes and helping to assist other instructors
throughout the year.
Jackie was an innovator of dance back in HS where she is responsible for starting of the first ever Parkland High School Dance Team and held the position of captain and choreographer. After high school, Jackie went on to complete her BA in Dance from DeSales University, where she performed and choreographed several pieces. In 2007, her choreography (The Umbrella Effect) was chosen to be presented at the American College Dance Festival at the University of Montana. In 2008, she was a dancer on the professional dance team, “Lady Outlawz” part of the L.V. Outlawz Indoor Football Team, and currently is a principal dancer in Philadelphia’s own Contempra Dance Theatre Professional Dance Company. This summer she will be performing in Poland where she will be showcasing her choreography skills with her touring company. She has additional training in Acting, Musical Theatre, and Vocal training. Miss Jackie will be teaching Jazz/Lyrical, Modern, and Ballet classes, along with choreographing pieces for IN THE MIX.
“MISS DANI” LAHNEMAN
Also a graduate of Kutztown University, Dani studied many styles of dance all her life. While completing her BFA degree in Dance, she was a member of the dance team, as well as, the residential dance company, both of which she choreographed for and carried Presidential positions. Since Kutztown, Dani kept herself busy by teaching in Reading and the Quakertown area. Miss Dani will be teaching Ballet, Tap, and Ballet/Tap combo. classes, in addition to Modern Dance. Miss Dani has been a faculty member since we opened our doors in 2003, and is responsible for helping to establish structure in the classroom, as well as, bringing her innovative choreography to life on stage. She also choreographs for our dance company, IN THE MIX, and is thrilled to be a part of Dynamix.
SHIHAN (MASTER) ERIC MERCADO
We welcome Eric as a guest artist at DDC, starting summer 2010. Eric has been involved in the martial arts for over 25 years. Throughout those years he has been involved in training and teaching on a daily basis. With numerous national and international championships to his credit he currently holds a 6th degree black belt in Kyokushin Karate which is a traditional form of Japanese karate. A typical class will consist of warm up, basics, kata, fighting technique, conditioning and zen meditation. There are no age limits for Kyokushin Karate however, this martial art is for the serious practitioner. Kyokushin Karate is one of the most powerful styles of karate with a membership of over 12 million members worldwide. The class format will mirror the same program as the headquarters school in Japan. Special classes and seminars are available for those students that are interested in advanced kata principals and tournament fighting. As a member all students will have the opportunity to partake in regional camps, seminars, and tournaments.
“MR. BRYAN” RODRIGUEZ
Dancing for several years prior, Bryan started out as a Dynamix student in 2003. During his time here, he was part of our resident dance company, IN THE MIX, and expanded his dance background taking Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, & Latin Dance, not to mention Hip-Hop. As a graduate of the Lehigh Valley Charter School, he has extensive training in Theatre & Dance, where he had many lead roles. As a bonus, Mr. Bryan also achieved his black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Since graduation, Bryan has been teaching dance throughout the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas. Currently, he is working toward a Physical Therapy degree at Lehigh Valley College, and continues his dance education at Muhlenberg College. Bryan will be teaching Hip-Hop, Salsa, & Martial Arts classes at Dynamix for the 2010-11year.
